EAST MILLINOCKET — The reopening of a closed paper mill in East Millinocket is being delayed for a week.

The mill, now owned by Cate Street Capital, is expected to open Oct. 17 providing about 250 jobs.

The mill plans to ship its first order of virgin newsprint overseas by early November.

Cate Street Spokesman Scott Tranchemontagne says the delay was caused by a lack of available wood because of wet conditions in Maine’s forests.

Tranchemontagne tells the Bangor Daily News the delay is not a long-term issue and it does not jeopardize long-term plans for the mill.

Cate Street is also planning to reopen a second mill, in Millinocket, but no date has been set.
