NEWPORT — A man was found stabbed in the chest at a Newport gas station this morning, police said.

No one has yet been charged in the stabbing, but police believe it may have occurred in Bangor, according to Newport Police Chief Leonard Macdaid.

The stabbing victim, Jonathan Lehman, was found bleeding and lying on the ground at 7:20 a.m. He was taken to Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield with a non life-threatening wound, Macdaid said.

A woman who was with Lehman at the Irving gas station, Shauna Smart, 37, of St. Albans, was arrested on charges of possessing scheduled drugs and violating conditions of release.

Macdaid said police continue to investigate and are trying to piece together exactly what happened.

“At this point, we believe it took place in Bangor, but it’s still sketchy how he ended up in Newport,” Macdaid said. “We’re getting all kinds of different stories.”
