PORTLAND — It was like a pink party in Monument Square as nearly 2,000 people gathered for today’s walk.
The crowd was led by an old fashioned fire engine up Munjoy Hill along a 3-mile walk route as part of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

Many walked in groups in honor of those who have died from breast cancer, are fighting breast cancer or are survivors. One group called themselves “Team Knockers” and wore pink shirts that read “Someday Pink will just be a color…” on the front.
Along with a plethora of pink shirts, some wore pink pants, pink boas, pink hats, pink bandanas, and one happy yellow Labrador retriever even sported a pink tutu.
Last year, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walks raised more than $60 million nationwide.
