SOUTH HIRAM –  Seven games into the football season, it seems the Old Orchard Beach football team has figured out how to grind out wins: Just run the ball. Repeatedly.

The Seagulls pounded through Sacopee Valley for a 22-0 win Monday as two running backs ran for over 100 yards to power the offense.

Bryan Roberts carried the ball 14 times for 163 yards and a touchdown, good for an 11.64 yards per carry average to lead the Old Orchard offense. Joey Gildard also ran for 104 yards.

Old Orchard’s other two touchdowns also came on the ground as Matt Parks and Jason Regis both ran in for scores.

Julien Gomez rounded out the offense with a 28-yard field goal.

The win, their second straight, kept the Seagulls’ playoff hopes alive as they improved to 2-5. The Hawks are 0-7.

The Old Orchard defense had a different kind of ground game as the Seagulls kept the Hawks grounded.

Nick Carland led the strong defensive effort with three sacks.
