PORTLAND — Maine State Police say investigators are still working to identify the remains of a woman found in a freezer at a Lewiston storage unit.

Spokesman Steve McCausland says the state Medical Examiner’s Office, detectives and the state police crime lab continue to seek answers. He said he did not expect any new information or developments today.

Police believe the remains discovered Friday were those of Kitty Wardwell. The storage unit was rented by her boyfriend, Frank Julian, who died Oct. 1 at the age of 80. Wardwell has been missing for 28 years.

Police say Julian had told investigators he last saw the 29-year-old Wardwell after an argument in 1983, when he dropped her off at a motel in Salem, N.H.
