PORTLAND — Traffic on Riverside Street in Portland will continue to be congested through Thursday as crews work to repair the road after fixing a water main leak.

The leak occurred at 736 Riverside Tuesday afternoon, forcing crews to dig up the roadway and disrupt the evening commute. Repairs to the line took about 16 hours but now roadwork needed to repave the travel surface will extend the lane closure through the Thursday morning commute, according to the Portland Water District.

Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes.
