Priest assigned to St. Agnes, Our Lady of the Snows

Bishop Richard Malone has announced the assignment of the Rev. Paul Murray as parochial vicar to St. Agnes in Pittsfield and Our Lady of the Snows, serving communities that include Dover-Foxcroft, Dexter and Milo.

Murray was born in Cambridge, Mass., and has been a member of the Madonna House Community in Ontario, Canada.

He was ordained in 2009 and has served at Corpus Christi Parish in Waterville and Christ the King Parish in Skowhegan.

Auburn Knights of Columbus recognized with a top award

Knights of Columbus Council 8742 of Auburn has earned the distinction of Star Council, one of the organization’s top awards, for the 2010-2011 fraternal year.

The award recognizes overall excellence in the areas of membership recruitment and retention, promotion of the fraternal insurance program and sponsorship of service-oriented activities.

The Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest Catholic lay organization with more than 1.8 million members world wide.

The Auburn group, known as the Andy Valley Knights of Columbus, also recently received an award for its help in bringing Catholic Radio 106.7 “The Presence” to Auburn. The group was responsible for renovations to radio station’s building on Washington Street in Auburn and, in particular, construction of an on-air studio.
