How about introducing some common sense into the debate about same-day registration?

Same-day registration sets the stage for either party to fraudulently skew an election. If you are a busy Mainer, or a Mainer who either has problems getting around or difficult transportation issues, you have a whole year to get registered.

If you are a college student from out of state, supposedly you have a modicum of intelligence or you wouldn’t have been accepted at one of our universities. You should realize when you arrive in late August or early September that you have two whole months to register. This is your responsibility.

I don’t care how busy you are, a year is plenty of time to register. If by next November you haven’t registered, you have not fulfilled your personal responsibility. You have no one to blame but yourself, and frankly, you have proven yourself too irresponsible to be allowed to vote.
