SACO — A Maine state representative from Saco is filing a complaint with the state ethics commission that a political rival has opened an office in his district.

The Journal Tribune of Biddeford says Rep. Don Pilon filed a complaint with the Commission on Governmental Ethics and Election Practices against Rep. Linda Valentino, also of Saco.

Both Pilon and Valentino are seeking the 2012 Democratic nomination for Senate District 5, which includes both Pilon and Valentino’s districts.

Pilon says he finds it unusual that a state representative would open an office outside her district. He asks why Valentino didn’t open the office at the beginning of the legislative session if she wanted to reach out to her constituents.

Valentino says she’s currently using the space as a constituent service office.
