BANCROFT  — State police say Bancroft man has been killed in a single-vehicle crash in town.

Police says 56-year-old Wilfred Hannington was heading west on Bancroft Road on Thursday morning when he lost control of his pickup truck and it left the roadway.

Hannington, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected from the truck as it struck a ditch and rolled over. Police say he received serious head trauma and died at the scene.

The Bangor Daily News reports that a passing motorist discovered the crash at 7 a.m.

The vehicle was a total loss. The crash remains under investigation.
