DURHAM, N.H. – Second-seeded Boston University scored three goals in the second half Friday to pull away from the University of Maine for a 4-0 win in an America East field hockey semifinal.

The Terriers took an early lead when Jacinda McLeod scored off a penalty corner. Nicole van Oosterom added a pair of goals, and McLeod set up the final goal by Macey Gaumond.

Brittany Fleck made five saves for the third-seeded Black Bears (16-4).

MEN’S HOCKEY

USM 5, SKIDMORE 4: Dan Rautenberg scored twice to help the Huskies edge the Thoroughbreds in their season opener at Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

Rautenberg broke a 3-3 tie 38 seconds into the third period, and Ryan Seward made it 5-3 with 4:34 to play.

Brad McGovern and Angelo Vrachnas also scored for USM.

CASTLETON STATE 10, UNE 3: Justin Alonzo’s power-play goal with 35 seconds left in the second period broke a 3-3 tie and started a string of seven unanswered goals as the Spartans (1-0) beat the Nor’easters (0-1) at Rutland, Vt.

The Nor’easters led 2-1 after one period on goals by Russ Franey and Tyler Fleurent. Brent Bourgeois scored midway through the second period after Castleton had taken a 3-2 lead.

Ben Schoeneberger led the Spartans with two goals and an assist.
