BANGOR — The Maine Snowmobile Association and conservationist Roxanne Quimby disagree over the level of support for her offer to snowmobile clubs of five years of access to her land in exchange for their support of a feasibility study of her proposal for a national park.

Bob Meyers from MSA tells the Bangor Daily News that Quimby hasn’t won enough support to make her plan viable.

But Quimby said in a statement today that almost half of the clubs contacted are supportive of looking into a national park.

Quimby wants to create a national park on 70,000 acres next to Baxter State Park. She says she’s like other landowners in requesting written permission and proof of insurance on an annual basis for access to her land.
