AWARDS AND RECOGNITION

• Vreeland Marketing & Design of Yarmouth was honored by the Maine Public Relations Council for excellence in social media and technology at the 2011 Golden Arrow Awards last month in Freeport.
The agency was recognized in social media for a testimonial campaign it designed for The Cliff House Resort & Spa.

Vreeland took top honors in technology for its re-design of the Bath Savings Institution website, and for an online energy savings calculator created for Efficiency Maine. The agency was also honored in special events for its promotion of the Italian Life Expo, for citizenship on behalf of the Spannocchia Foundation, and for media relations and communications for Efficiency Maine.

• Dollar Tree Inc., a discount variety store that sells everything for $1 or less, has opened a 9,072-square-foot store at 1100 Brighton Ave., Portland.

• Opus Consulting Group, a management consulting firm in Portland, has redesigned its website, www.opuscg.com.

The website outlines the consulting services offered by the firm, such as: business strategy and financial modeling to young and existing companies. It also includes a blog where the company posts regularly new information, views and comments on the business life.
