LIMINGTON —  A report of someone being rescued from the Saco River turned out to be nothing more than a teenager who dove into the river when authorities attempted to break up an underaged drinking party tonight.

Edie Smith, spokeswoman for the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, said local authorities were called to the Green River Bridge on Hardscrabble Road in Limington around 6:30 p.m.

Smith said one of the members of the drinking party ran into the river when police arrived but the boy returned to shore safely a few minutes later.

Standish sent its water rescue team to Limington. The Maine Warden Service also responded.
