SCARBOROUGH — A section of Route 1 near the Scarborough and South Portland line is still shut down tonight as utility crews try to repair a telephone pole was destroyed after being hit by a car.
Scarborough police said the accident forced police to close the north and southbound lanes of Route 1 between the Maine Medical Center complex and Pleasant Hill Road.
The road was closed shortly after the accident was reported at 9:40 p.m. The driver, whose name was unavailable, suffered minor injuries.
