WINDHAM — Maine corrections officials say a female prisoner who just began her sentence a week ago has died.
Officials say 50-year-old Mary Hoskins was found unresponsive, apparently due to natural causes, at 2 a.m. Thursday. The death was reported to the state medical examiner.
Hoskins was convicted in Somerset County Superior Court of arson. She was received a split eight-year sentence, all but two years suspended with four year’s probation. Hoskins had just started her sentence on Nov. 10.
Female offenders are housed at Maine Correctional Center in Windham.
