The project began in 1993 to distribute shoe boxes filled with various supplies to needy children overseas. Items generally include school supplies, toys, necessity items and a note of encouragement. Tracking technology allows donors to “follow” their box to the destination country where it will be hand-delivered to a child in need. To register shoe box gifts and find out the destination country, use the Follow Your Box donation form at www.samaritanspurse.org/occ. For more information, call (518) 357-2284 or visit www.samaritanspurse.org/occ. Shoe box gifts are collected all year at Samaritan’s Purse headquarters in Boone, N.C.
