Portland-based historian and author George Daughan will be at Barnes & Noble in Augusta signing his latest book, “1812: The Navy’s War.” The book offers a comprehensive look at the conflict some have called “the second war of independence” and makes the case that the war could not have been won without America’s foundling Navy.
