A tractor trailer jackknifed on Interstate 295 in Yarmouth this morning, one of several crashes along the interstate attributed to today’s snowstorm.

Public safety dispatchers are urging motorists to slow down and use caution.

None of the multiple crashes on Interstate 295 and the Maine Turnpike resulted in serious injury, a Department of Public Safety dispatcher said.

Morning commuters were advised to avoid the area of Exit 17 on Interstate 295 until the truck is cleared.

The National Weather Service in Gray issued a statement saying the heavy wet snow could lead to power outages and adversely affect holiday travel on one of the busiest travel days of the year. The snow is expected to taper off by this afternoon.
