BOSTON — Supporters of legislation creating paid sick days in Massachusetts are planning to rally at the Statehouse.
The proposal would require businesses with more than 10 workers to provide up to seven paid sick days a year to employees who have worked the required hours.
Supporters say the legislation will let up to a million workers who currently don’t have access to sick days to be able to earn time off to care for themselves and their families.
Supporters include labor leaders and health care advocates, who have been pushing for the legislation for the past several years.
Backers say allowing workers to earn sick time will also improve preventive care and help limit illnesses from spreading in the workplace.
The rally is scheduled for Tuesday on the steps of the Statehouse.
