PORTLAND – The St. Joseph College’s men’s lacrosse team scored 10 straight goals between the second and fourth quarters Thursday night and went on to a 13-5 victory against Daniel Webster in a Great Northeast Athletic game at Deering High.

The Monks improved to 4-6 overall and 2-0 in the league. The Eagles are 2-3 overall and 0-3 in the league.

Seven players scored during the string that began 3:41 into the second quarter and ended 4:49 into the fourth and provided St. Joseph with a 12-2 lead.

Paul Dolewa scored all three of his goals and Jonathan Horgan notched his two during the run.

Bob Murtha scooped nine of the Monks’ 70 ground balls and Ahmed Dorghoud won six faceoffs.

SOUTHERN MAINE 12, UM-FARMINGTON 1: Tucker White had four hits with two RBI, and the Huskies (7-7) scored nine runs in the fifth inning against the Beavers (1-5) in a game at Auburndale, Fla., that was shorten to seven innings by the mercy rule.

White tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly, and singled home two runs in the fifth when the Huskies sent 14 batters to the plate. Jake Glauser and John Carey each hit a two-run triple, Matt Verrier had an RBI double and Matt Powers added an RBI single in the rally.

Ryan Yates pitched a complete game to help the Huskies end a four-game losing streak.
