PORTLAND — Max Pierter finished with four goals and an assist Wednesday to lead Portland to a 7-5 victory against Massabesic in a Southern Maine Activities Association schoolboy lacrosse game at Fitzpatrick Stadium.

Jacob DesRochers led Massabesic (1-1) with four goals against the Bulldogs (1-1).

MARSHWOOD 7, DEERING 4: Matt Scremin had three goals and three assists to lead Marshwood (2-0) past the Rams (1-1) at Portland.

Jeff Hatheway added two goals and a pair of assists for the Hawks. Rick Murray scored twice for Deering.

SOUTH PORTLAND 14, GORHAM 6: Thomas Leddy had five goals and two assists, and Mike Salvatore added four goals and one assist as the Red Riots (1-1) downed the Rams (1-1) at Gorham.

Edward Hellier made 17 saves for South Portland.

Tyler Rankin and Jimmy Talbot each had two goals, and Nate Holloran stopped 25 shots for Gorham.

LEWISTON 14, OXFORD HILLS 1: Troy Hebert scored six times as the Blue Devils (2-0) beat Oxford Hills (0-2) at Lewiston.

Shawn O’Connell and Chris Gaumont added two goals each.

BRUNSWICK 13, MESSALONSKEE 3: Cameron Glover had three goals as the Dragons (2-0) handled the Eagles (0-2) at Oakland.

Alex Croatti, Bailey Caparatto and Chris Snyder each had two goals, and James Wilgus stopped 10 shots for Brunswick.

Aiden Calkins had two goals and Jake Smith made 19 saves for Messalonskee.

BASEBALL

OCEANSIDE 13, MEDOMAK VALLEY 3: The Mariners used a seven-run second and a five-run fifth to down the Panthers in five innings in an opener at Waldoboro.

Zac Roman’s RBI single sparked the seven-run rally. Oceanside also took advantage of four walks, four stolen bases and two errors.

Drew Townsend and Billy Joyce each hit a two-run double in the fifth.

CAMDEN HILLS 10, MT. VIEW 1: Adam Carlsen struck out five, and allowed a run on two hits and two walks in four innings to help the Windjammers win an opener at Thorndike.

Connor Hart, Kyle Ohelnik, Chandler Crans and Coleman Powers each scored twice.

SOFTBALL

OCEANSIDE 6, MEDOMAK VALLEY 1: Rachel Frye struck out 15 and walked five in a one-hitter for the Mariners in an opener at Waldoboro.

Kennadi Grover had two hits and Jill Bradbury added a triple for Oceanside. Abby Maguire’s double was the only hit for Medomak Valley.

MT. ARARAT 16, BRUNSWICK 4: Kayla Chamberlin had three hits and five RBI, and Shauna Williams added four hits and three RBI as the Eagles won an opener at Topsham.

Emily Dunn also had four hits.
