At its annual Environmental Merit Awards ceremony in Boston, the EPA on Wednesday awarded lifetime achievement environmental merit awards to Jeff Emery of the Maine Department of Environmental Protection and Casco Bay Baykeeper Joe Payne.

Emery was cited for his years of work as an environmental scientist and as a leader in collaborating with national and regional organizations, Canadian jurisdictions and other states on air quality issues.
