NEW FACES

David Regan joined BerryDunn as a senior consultant in the firm’s government consulting group. Regan previously worked for Health Dialog.

Edward Howes, Jillian Johnson and Mark Weinerth joined Spruce Point Inn Resort & Spa in Boothbay Harbor. Howes was named food and beverage manager. Since 2007, he has worked with a hotel company in North Carolina managing food and beverage operations in their new hotels. Johnson was named sales and catering manager. Since 2009, she had worked for Compass Group as a food services director and team leader, assisting in the development of the catering program at Bon Secours Retreat and Conference Center in Marriottsville, MD. Weinerth was hired as a sous chef. He was previously the executive chef of the Doubletree Ocean Point Resort and Spa in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida.

Susan Tompkins joined Canney Communications as an associate to manage public relations campaigns and oversee special events. Tompkins, of South Portland, previously owned a boutique public relations firm, Rising Tide PR. She was also a director of public information at the Maine Department of Conservation.

Jennifer Broughton joined Maine Staffing Group. Broughton has 11 years of management, sales and customer service experience in the staffing industry. She is also a certified staffing professional.

Heather Walker has joined Douglas, Denham, Buccina & Ernst as an associate attorney practicing in civil litigation, criminal defense and domestic relations. She previously practiced for 10 years in the Lewiston/Auburn area.

John Gerken was hired as director of maintenance and facilities for South Portland Housing Authority. Gerken has 11 years experience as a site superintendent for Benchmark and Wright–Ryan Construction.

AWARDS

Lawyer and civic leader Peter J. DeTroy III was selected to receive the distinguished service award from the Maine Law Alumni Association. DeTroy was selected for his “significant contributions to the legal profession, cultural and charitable organizations, and his longstanding support of Maine Law,” the press release said. DeTroy is a member of the Portland-based firm Norman Hanson DeTroy LLC, where he has worked since 1977.

Darling’s car dealership was presented with the Seven Seals Award by the military’s Employer Support Guard and Reserve Program. Darling’s was nominated for the award by Sgt. Steve Webber, a team service manager at the company and member of the Marine Corps Reserve. Webber nominated Darling’s because of the support he received while deployed in Kandahar and Kabul in Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom.

BOARD APPOINTMENTS

• Dennis Carolin, chief financial officer of The Bank of Maine, was named to the board of directors for Johnson Hall Performing Arts Center. Carolin, of Augusta, is a CPA, licensed in Maine. He serves on the finance committee of Johnson Hall. Paul Pidgeon of West Gardiner was named president of the board of directors. Nancy Davis of West Gardiner was named vice president; Cindy Yachanin of Augusta was named secretary; and Dennis Doiron of Gardiner will continue to serve as treasurer.
