ROCKLAND — The Farnsworth Art Museum is getting set to launch an exhibition featuring works from Jamie Wyeth and the late Rockwell Kent that were done on Maine’s Monhegan Island.
The exhibition at the Rockland museum will run from May 12 to Dec. 30.
Rockwell Kent, who died in 1971, lived on Monhegan for a number of years as a young man more than a century ago, producing highly acclaimed paintings of the island.
Jamie Wyeth first visited Monhegan in the 1950s with his father, the late Andrew Wyeth, and has continued to paint there ever since. Wyeth in time bought the first home and studio that Kent owned on the island, as well as several of his paintings.
The works will be exhibited in the museum’s Wyeth Center.
