PORTLAND — Gov. Paul LePage is taking his campaign against domestic violence to a Portland high school.
LePage travels to Cheverus High School today to share his experience with domestic abuse and his thoughts on how Mainers can address the problem.
This morning, the governor is scheduled to meet with Cheverus male athletes and tell them that men must be part of the solution in reducing that crime. The athletes are expected to present LePage with a signed pledge to show their commitment to end abuse in Maine.
In the evening, a public forum on the issue will be held at Cheverus. Besides LePage, panelists will include John Morris, Maine’s commissioner of Public Safety; District Attorney Kathy Slattery; Maj. Chris Grotton of the state police, and Julia Colpitts, executive director of the Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence.
