STANDISH — Mike Pratt was 2 for 2 with three RBI, and Nick Whittaker struck out 10 in five innings to lead St. Joseph’s to a 10-3 win over Gordon in a nonconference baseball game Tuesday.

Whittaker allowed a run on two hits and a walk. Lincoln Sanborn was 3 for 5 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI, and Zach Gardiner drove in two runs for the Monks (36-5), who won the Great Northeast Athletic Conference championship on Sunday.

SOFTBALL

BOSTON UNIVERSITY 5, MAINE 3: The Terriers (34-13) broke a 2-2 tie with three runs in the seventh inning against the Black Bears (15-27-1) at Orono.

Boston University took advantage of two walks, a passed ball, an error and an infield single in the rally.

Margaret Hilton put Maine ahead with a two-run homer in the second inning. BU got one back in the third and tied it on Chelsea O’Connor’s home run in the sixth.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

WESTERN CONNECTICUT STATE 12, USM 10: Emily Brooks scored three goals and Karli Portnoy made 22 saves to lead the fifth-seeded Colonials (11-7) over the fourth-seeded Huskies (7-11) in the first round of the Little East Conference playoffs at Gorham.

Kirsten Hudock, Devon Edwards and Hyla Costello each added two goals for Western Connecticut.

Jacki Kelly had three goals and an assist for Southern Maine. Julia Pearl added two goals and an assist.

MEN’S LACROSSE

UMASS-DARTMOUTH 11, USM 6: Riley Baxter and Justin Lawless each scored four goals to lead the fourth-seeded Corsairs (10-5) past the fifth-seeded Huskies (6-10) in the first round of the Little East tournament at North Dartmouth, Mass.

The Corsairs led 5-4 at halftime, then pulled away with three straight goals in the third quarter.

Dan Thomas scored three goals for the Huskies. Nate Prince added two.
