WALTHAM, Mass. — Boston coach Doc Rivers is encouraged by what he’s seen from Rajon Rondo since the Celtics point guard was suspended for bumping a referee.

Rondo was shaking hands with his teammates and thanking them for picking up the slack when he sat out Game 2 of their first-round playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks.

The Celtics won 87-80 to tie the series at one game apiece. Game 3 is Friday night in Boston.

Rondo says he doesn’t have anything to prove when the series resumes. He just wants to help the Celtics pick up another win.

Rondo was suspended for one game for bumping an official near the end of the series opener.
