MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — Aaron Rosen singled home Tim McGarry in the 11th inning Friday to give Bowdoin a 3-2 victory over Amherst on the opening day of the New England Small College Athletic Conference baseball tournament.

McGarry also had an RBI single in the fourth inning and scored the tying run in the top of the ninth, racing home from second on a bad-hop single by Luke Regan.

Henry Van Zant (3-3) earned the win with three innings of one-hit ball in relief of his brother, Oliver, who gave up five hits in eight innings.

Next up for Bowdoin (24-16) is a winners’ bracket game Saturday morning against Trinity (30-9), which beat Williams, 6-5. The Bowdoin-Trinity winner advances to Sunday’s championship round.
