BOSTON — Melanie Delgado hit a three-run homer in the second inning as top-seeded Boston University opened the America East softball tournament Friday with a 3-2 win over fourth-seeded Maine.
Jessica Burk belted a two-run homer in the third inning for the Black Bears (17-29-1), who couldn’t do any more damage against BU pitcher Holli Floetker. EmJ Fogel lined out to end the game with the potential tying run at third base.
Maine faces third-seeded Albany (34-13) in an elimination game Saturday, following a winners’ bracket game between BU (38-14) and Stony Brook (36-15-1).
