AMHERST, Mass. – Allie Frazier, Ashley Gott, Jessica Potter and Maegan Johnson had three hits apiece as the University of New England avoided elimination from the NCAA Division III softball regionals with an 11-8 win Friday afternoon against Husson.

The Nor’easters (27-13) broke the game open early, scoring seven runs in the second inning with the help of three Husson errors.

UNE finished with 17 hits as it advanced to another elimination game Saturday against SUNY Cortland or Keene State.

Both UNE and Husson lost their tournament openers earlier in the day. Husson (33-13), the No. 8 seed, was beaten 6-4 by top-seeded Amherst (35-4), and second-seeded UNE suffered a 10-0 mercy-rule loss to second-seeded SUNY Plattsburgh. Ashley Gott had two of the Nor’easters four hits.
