DUXBURY, Mass. — A 19-year-old Oklahoma man is held without bail after allegedly trying to break into a Duxbury police officer’s home, then firing at pursuing officers before he was arrested in a cranberry bog hours later.

Brett Roderick was arraigned Tuesday in Plymouth District Court on charges including armed assault and attempted breaking and entering. A prosecutor said Roderick is wanted in Oklahoma, where he was on parole after an armed robbery conviction. A dangerousness hearing is set for Friday.

Roderick’s attorney says his client denies doing anything illegal. Roderick’s mother said she and her son were in Massachusetts for a funeral.

Police said a masked man holding a pistol knocked at the officer’s door around 10:30 p.m. Monday. The officer slammed it shut and called police. State and Duxbury police found the suspect just before 2 a.m.
