AUGUSTA — An Augusta man who went on a drug-fueled, nine-day crime spree last year has been sentenced to serve eight years in prison and pay more than $21,000 in restitution to his victims.

Ricky Allen Lane pleaded guilty Wednesday in Kennebec County Superior Court to participating in an armed home invasion in Manchester, a pair of convenience store robberies, two home burglaries and two break-ins at a taxi company between August 28 and Sept. 6 last year.

The 25-year-old Lane was sentenced to 20 years with eight years to serve and the rest suspended for years of probation.

The Kennebec Journal (http://bit.ly/KSaTdl ) reports that Lane apologized in court and said the crimes were driven by his addiction to opiates.

Lane was the fourth and final person sentenced for participating in the home invasion.
