Pemaquid Paddlers / 9 a.m. in Bristol

The Pemaquid Paddlers are back at it, meeting each week for their group trips. This week’s paddle is from Bristol Mills to Biscay Pond. Put-in is at the Bristol Mills boat launch on Route 130, about 5.5 miles south of Damariscotta. Participants must provide their own canoe or kayak and wear a life jacket. All trips are free and open to the public. Paddle is held rain or shine. For more information, call John Will at 677-6380.

Spin Cast Family Fun / 8 a.m. in Jefferson

Hidden Valley Nature Center is hosting a spin casting lesson for families. Learn from a Master Maine Guide all the rod and reel techniques you need to catch fish. Then try what you’ve learned in Little Dyer Pond on the center’s preserve. No fishing license is necessary, but registration for the event is required. Bring water and lunch. Cost is $25, and discounts are offered for families. Call 586-6752.

Whiskeag Trail Work / 9 a.m. in Bath

Join Bath Trails for a work day on a portion of the Whiskeag Trail. The work will include redirecting part of the Whiskeag Trail. Volunteers should meet at Detritus Drive and bring work gloves, good shoes and water. For more information, call 607-1910.

Tales From the Trail / 8 p.m. in Pinkham Notch, N.H.

The Appalachian Mountain Club’s evening program series features an exploration of the Appalachian Trail, the quest of some 2,000 hikers each year. Programs are free and open to the public. The AMC Pinkham Notch Visitor Center is located on Route 16. For more information, call 603-466-2727.
