NEWCASTLE — A Maine sheriff’s official says a Cub Scout suffered cuts and bruises when he was hit by a golf cart that was participating in a Memorial Day parade in Newcastle.

The boy was one of four scouts hit when the golf cart being operated by 55-year-old Frazier Hart went out of control just after 11 a.m. Monday.

Officials did not release the name, age or condition of the boy, who was taken to the Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Lt. Michael Murphy tells WMTW-TV the cart was behind the group of marching scouts.

The parade was stopped for about 15 minutes.

Last October a go-cart crash in Newcastle killed a rider during a pumpkin festival parade.
