KINGSTON, N.H. — Police say one person has been killed after two boats collided on a southeastern New Hampshire pond. Five others were injured.

A 20-foot inboard power boat and a 17-foot power boat collided near Country Shores Campground just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

Authorities tell WMUR-TV that 54-year-old Eric Eskeland of Merrimack, the operator of the 17-foot boat, was pronounced dead at the scene. Five others were taken to the hospital for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Officers say the incident happened about a quarter-mile offshore.

The station reports that the state marine patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
