PORTLAND — John Baldacci, Maine’s governor from 2003-2011, has joined the Portland law firm Pierce Atwood, the firm announced today.
He will be a senior adviser, economic development & government relations and will be based in the firm’s Portland office, but could also work from other offices in New England or Washington, D.C., the firm said.

“We are delighted to have Governor Baldacci join us at Pierce Atwood,” said Gloria Pinza, the firm’s managing partner, citing Baldacci’s experience at the state and national levels dealing with issues such as energy, healthcare and economic development.
Baldacci has served on the Bangor City Council, in the Maine Senate and in the U.S. House. He was elected governor in 2002 and re-elected in 2006.
After finishing his second term as governor, Baldacci was named director of the Department of Defense’s Military Health Care Reform Initiative.
Pierce Atwood has more than 130 lawyers and operates seven offices, including Portland and Augusta in Maine.
