The Seacoast United Maine U17 girls’ soccer team won the State Cup Championship, defeating Blackbear United 1-0 in the final May 20 at Deering High School. It’s the team’s fifth championship in the sixth-year history of the State Cup.

Seacoast will represent Maine in the U.S. Youth Soccer Region 1 championships in Lancaster, Pa., starting June 28.

Four masters track and field athletes from Maine won gold medals at the Connecticut Games in New Britain, Conn., on May 19.

Nancy Kneeland of Buxton ran the 1,500 meters in 7 minutes, 4 seconds to take first place in the women’s 55-59 age group. Tim Burch of Damariscotta placed first in both the 400 (1:10.09) and 800 (2:43.07) for the 60-64 division. Stephen Redmond of Gray threw the javelin 153 feet, 5 inches for first place in the 40-49 division, and Steven Pelletier took gold in the 60-64 division with a throw of 129-3.

Cory Pratt aced the sixth hole at Gorham Country Club on Friday. He used a 9-iron for the 160-yard shot, which was witnessed by Steve Horvath and Lee Hall.

Sylvia Leblanc of Auburn carded her first hole-in-one on the 11th hole at Martindale Country Club on Sunday.

She used a hybrid for the 104-yard shot, which was witnessed by Butch Leblanc.
