THOMASTON — A Maine boat-building company has opened a new boatyard in Panama.
Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding Co. is based in Thomaston with a satellite service yard in Tenants Harbor.
The 34-year-old company says it’s now opened a yard in Shelter Bay, Panama, located near the Caribbean entrance of the Panama Canal.
There, it will provide repair services for sailboats and power yachts, as well as haul-out and storage services. It’ll also provide prep work for boaters transiting the Panama Canal.
Company owner Cabot Lyman decided to open a yard in Panama because of his appreciation for the area from decades of cruising in the region.
