HAMPTON, N.H. — An auction of nearly 50 classic cars and numerous neon signs in New Hampshire has generated about $9.9 million in sales.
The collection belonged to former Ford Motor Co. director Michael Dingman. It featured vintage Fords and over 1,000 signs advertising automotive and soft drink products, and markers for U.S. Route 66.
The auction last weekend in Hampton attracted interest from as far away as Europe, South America and the Middle East.
RM Auctions said topping the automobile offering was a rare 1936 Ford Model 48 Cabriolet. It well-exceeded its pre-sale estimate, selling for $396,000.
A 1938 Lincoln-Zephyr Coupe sold for $330,000 against a pre-sale estimate of $150,000.
