HINCKLEY — A state representative who attended the Good Will-Hinckley school in 1946 is returning to speak at graduation ceremonies at the central Maine site.

Rep. Helen Rankin of Hiram will address graduates of the Maine Academy of Natural Sciences at its inaugural commencement today in Hinckley.

Rankin had a troubled childhood and attended 16 different schools in three states by the time she reached eighth grade. She says Good Will-Hinckley helped to turn her life around during the year she went to school there.

The Maine Academy of Natural Sciences opened in September 2011 as Maine’s first high school to focus on the natural sciences. The academy is an educational program of Good Will-Hinckley, its parent organization. George Walter Hinckley founded the Good Will Home for Boys and Girls in 1889.
