LEWISTON  — Red and white kitchen towels, a lemon-yellow hand mixer and a gas grill are among items on the wedding registries for U.S. Sen. Susan Collins and Thomas Daffron.

The Sun Journal says the couple that’ll wed this summer in Maine has registered at the chic Sur La Table, as well as Williams Sonoma and Crate & Barrel.

Wedding details are under wraps but the couple’s tastes are now public.

The registries feature mostly modest items, ranging from $2.95 for white pillar candles to $395.95 for a Weber grill. Most items are $10 to $40.

Amber Small from Sweetest Thing Weddings in Bangor says the senator’s choices underscore her practical nature.

“What she’s doing, which is really, really gracious, if you think about it, she has two very different circles of who she hangs around with, people who live in Aroostook County in Maine and people from D.C.,” Small said, according to the Journal.

“There are people from her roots and from her childhood and from Maine who are going to want to buy her gifts, and then there’s people like Hillary Clinton who want to buy her gifts and their means are very different,” Small said. “She’s not playing a Kim Kardashian, where everything is $3,000 for an ashtray.”

The senator’s spokesman declined comment on the bridal registries but said Collins appreciates the well-wishers.
