NEW FACES

• Peggy Allen and Thomas Charest joined Professional Disability Associates.

Allen was named a senior claim consultant. She has more than 30 years of experience at Unum in claims risk management.

Charest was hired as senior vice president of risk solutions. He was previously head of group protection customer operations at Lincoln Financial Group in Omaha, Neb., and has more than 28 years of experience in the disability insurance industry.

Laure Johnson was hired as an elder services outreach specialist in Franklin County.

Albert Carpentier was named a supervisor of MaineCare billing.

Carolyn Hunt was hired as a MaineCare biller.

Carol Goyette was hired as a nutrition cook.

Heidi McIntosh, Sari Kulinski, Jamie Franks and Tina Letourneau were hired as member service specialists in SeniorsPlus’ EIM division.

Aimee Brown, Marianne Thompson, Juanita Matthews and Melissa Cunniff were hired as care coordinators.

PROMOTIONS

• Catherine Waterman was promoted to director of case management at New England Rehabilitation Hospital of Portland. Waterman was hired in 1996. She has held various nursing positions and transferred to case management in 2001.

Sharon Hartl, an occupational therapist from Scarborough, was named director of therapy operations at New England Rehabilitation Hospital. She joined the hospital in 2003. She has held positions as occupational therapist, stroke program leader and occupational therapy clinical leader.

• Leigh Weisenburger was appointed dean of admission and financial aid at Bates College. She joined the Bates admission staff in 2004 as an assistant dean, becoming director of admission in June 2011, following a year as acting director.

AWARDS and RECOGNITION

• Two Bath-area residents received special recognition at the Maine Downtown Center annual conference.

Charlie Hudson of Hudson Media Empire was recognized as a Volunteer of the Year. Hudson was selected for his work on a video that was instrumental in helping Bath win a Great American Main Street Award from the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Elizabeth Knowlton, owner of the Inn at Bath, was honored as the Board Member of the Year. Knowlton is a two-term board member and past president of Main Street Bath.

• Lauren Swett and Ashley Auger, engineers at Woodard & Curran in Portland, were recently honored by the Maine Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Swett, of Old Orchard Beach, received the Citizen Engineer Award, given each year to a member who volunteers expertise in helping the community or at the national level.

Auger, of Portland, received the President’s Award, which is given to an individual for exemplary acts and contributions.

GENERAL

• Audrey Pleau, a licensed cosmetologist who is an image consultant at Transitions at Bedard, recently earned 19 continuing education credits from the American Board for Certification in Orthotics & Prosthetics through courses administered by American Breast Care in mastectomy fitter training.
