Freeport fire and rescue officials say L.L. Bean’s 100th-anniversary celebration, which concluded with a Chris Isaak concert and fireworks last night, went smoothly.

Deputy Fire Chief Paul Conley said the department responded to two fender-benders shortly after the fireworks.

He said one person was treated for an asthma attack that may have been triggered by the fireworks. He said initial reports of other injuries caused by the fireworks proved false.

Otherwise, he said, the medical stations set up around downtown handled routine health problems that arose from the thousands of people descending on Freeport for the festivities.

“It was very successful,” said Conley.
