WASHINGTON — Pedro Beato threw a wild pitch with the bases loaded in the 10th inning that allowed the winning run to score, and the Washington Nationals rallied for a 5-4 victory after blowing a late lead Tuesday night.

The Nationals fell behind twice after leading 2-0 going into the ninth. Mets pinch-hitter Jordany Valdespin hit a three-run homer off closer Tyler Clippard.

But Danny Espinosa’s single off Bobby Parnell in the bottom half sent it to extra innings. Josh Thole’s RBI double put the Mets up 4-3 in the 10th before Washington came back again.

Bryce Harper tied it with a run-scoring triple of Tim Byrdak (2-1) before Beato entered with the bases loaded.

GIANTS 9, BRAVES 0: Buster Posey drove in five runs with three hits, Barry Zito combined with two relievers on a five-hitter and San Francisco won at Atlanta.

REDS 4, DIAMONDBACKS 0: Right-hander Johnny Cueto showed no significant problem from his finger blister during six shutout innings, and Ryan Ludwick hit a three-run homer that sent Cincinnati to a win at home.

BREWERS 3, CARDINALS 2: Rickie Weeks hit a mammoth home run and Randy Wolf won his first game since April 30 as Milwaukee won at home.

The Cardinals’ Matt Holliday left after getting hit in the leg with a pitch in the first inning and Brewers slugger Ryan Braun was removed with a right adductor strain in the seventh.

MARLINS 9, CUBS 5: Carlos Lee hit a grand slam and Florida gave Manager Ozzie Guillen a win in his first game back managing in Chicago.

Guillen managed the White Sox for eight years before a messy split at the end of last season.

AMERICAN LEAGUE

YANKEES 6, BLUE JAYS 1: CC Sabathia carried a shutout into the seventh inning during his sparkling return from the disabled list and New York got a three-run homer from Andruw Jones to win at home.

RAYS 4, INDIANS 2: Matt Moore won despite control issues, Carlos Pena homered and Tampa Bay beat visiting Cleveland.

Moore (6-6) allowed two runs and three hits, but walked five in five-plus innings.

Pena hit a two-run homer and Luke Scott had an RBI triple off Josh Tomlin (5-6) as the Rays took a 3-0 first-inning lead.

ANGELS 13, TIGERS 0: Mike Trout had another four-hit game for Los Angeles, including a 430-foot homer that was part of an early power show in a win at Detroit.

Trout, Mark Trumbo and Albert Pujols all homered off Jacob Turner in the first two innings, and Alberto Callaspo and Kendrys Morales went deep later in the game. It was the fourth four-hit game of Trout’s spectacular rookie season.

MARINERS 9, ROYALS 6: Justin Smoak and Michael Saunders each hit two-run homers as Seattle won at Kansas City, Mo.

TWINS 6, ORIOLES 4: Joe Mauer had three hits and an RBI, and Minnesota’s bullpen pitched 42/3 innings of scoreless relief in winning at home.

Mauer had two singles, a double and a walk to improve his batting average to .333, second in the AL behind the Angels’ Mike Trout. Ryan Doumit added two hits and two RBI for the Twins, who have taken the first two games of the series.

Adam Jones hit a three-run homer for Baltimore, but Zach Britton gave up four runs on six hits with a career-high six walks in four innings as the O’s dropped their third in a row to fall 10 games behind the Yankees in the AL East.
