PORTLAND — The Boston-based band Dropkick Murphys has been added to the lineup of the day-long Mumford & Sons concert event scheduled for Aug. 4 in Portland.

The “Gentlemen of the Road Stopover” show is scheduled for the Eastern Promenade park from about noon to 9 p.m.. Besides Mumford & Sons and Dropkick Murphys, the other bands scheduled to perform include  St. Vincent, Dawes, The Maccabees, Apache Relay, Simone Felice, and Haim. In a statement, Dropkick Murphys bassist/singer Ken Casey said his band has been friendly with Mumford & Sons for a while, and he jumped at the chance to play with them.

“We hung out with our buddies Mumford & Sons a few weeks ago at a festival in Europe, and they called to invite us to play their ‘Gentlemen of the Road’ festival up in Portland,” Casey said in the statement. “It sounds like a great time, so we’re going to jump out of the studio to close the second stage.” 

Dropkick Murphys will also play a show at Portland’s State Theatre on Congress Street, with the Parkington Sisters. following the Mumford event at 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 4. Tickets for that show are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Tickets will go on sale 10 a.m. Friday at statetheatreportland.com
