The Maine Turnpike Authority says road crews have cleared two crashes in the Saco-Scarborough area that had caused miles long backups.
A crash in the Saco-Scarborough area shortly after 4 p.m. was slowing northbound traffic on the Maine Turnpike and backed up traffic three miles.
That crash came on the heels of one 30 minutes earlier involving several vehicles which resulted in minor injuries, State Police said.
There were no injuries in the second crash but traffic was backed up to mile 33, according to the Maine Turnpike Authority.
Friday afternoon traditionally has heavy traffic in the northbound lanes during the summer tourist months.
