NORTH YARMOUTH — One driver had to be transported to Maine Medical Center Tuesday night with what police said were “serious injuries” after she hit another car head-on in North Yarmouth.
Sgt. James Ambrose of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department said the woman, whose name is being withheld, was driving to the scene of another crash in Gray – she may have known someone involved in that accident – when she struck a Volvo station wagon head-on as she was passing a third car on a hill on Route 231.
The woman suffered a broken leg, arm and several abrasions. None of the other drivers or passengers were injured, but the woman’s car, the Volvo and the car she passed all sustained significant damage.
The road had to be shut down for about an hour following the crash, which took place around 5:30 p.m.
