FARMINGTON — An escaped prisoner from East Wilton was captured Thursday afternoon in a combined effort by regional law enforcement agencies.
Justin Ross, 34, was arrested about 3:30 p.m. in Franklin County, according to Judy Plummer, director of special projects for the Maine Department of Corrections.
Plummer had no additional details about the capture of Ross. She said it was a collaborative effort between the Department of Corrections, Maine State Police and local law enforcement.
A dispatcher on duty at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the arrest Thursday afternoon, saying additional details would be released later.
Ross walked away from his work release site in Leeds about 6 p.m. Monday, according to published reports. He had been living at the Central Maine Pre-Release Center in Hallowell.
Morning Sentinel archives indicate Ross is from the town of East Wilton, in Franklin County.
He began serving a jail sentence in June 2011 for domestic violence assault, according to published reports.
He was due to be released Oct. 29 and would have been on probation until 2014.
Ross’ escape was the fourth jail break in Maine in the past two months.
