OLD ORCHARD BEACH – Despite rarely touching the ball in the first half, Old Orchard Beach rallied for a 24-19 victory against Boothbay Region in a Western Class C football game Friday night.

Cormac Miller had the only touchdown of the first half on a 3-yard run in the first quarter for Boothbay (0-2), which controlled the ball for more than 20 of the 24 minutes. Old Orchard (1-1) had one drive that lasted a little more than 31/2 minutes and ended with a missed field goal just before halftime.

Boothbay opened its, lead to 13-0 when Miller returned an interception 27 yards in the third quarter, but Joe Gildard scored on a 10-yard run and Bryan Roberts followed with a conversion rush for Old Orchard.

Gildard then scored on an 81-yard run and Matt Parks, who completed 4 of 8 passes for 58 yards, threw to Nick Carlin on the conversion to give the Seagulls their first lead, 16-13.

The Seagulls got their final score in the fourth when Parks threw to James Strohm for a 30-yard score, then rushed for two more points for a 24-13 lead.

Miller also caught a 21-yard pass from Nick Kilgus in the fourth.

Gildard finished with 158 yards on 11 carries.

Roberts had a solid offensive game (11 carries, 61 yards) to go with 17 tackles and two fumble recoveries.

GREELY 54, LAKE REGION 0: Freshman Matt Pisini ran back the opening kickoff for a touchdown and the Rangers (2-0) went on to down Lake Region (0-2) at Cumberland.

THORNTON ACADEMY 67, GORHAM 7: The Golden Trojans (2-0) scored 34 points in the first quarter and rolled past the Rams (0-2) at Gorham.

Andrew Libby scored on a 64-yard punt return and a 22-yard interception return, both in the first quarter.

Nick Kenney rushed for two touchdowns, and Eric Christensen had one touchdown running and another throwing.

WINDHAM 34, NOBLE 6: Matt Roy blocked two punts and Tanner Laberge returned both for touchdowns to help the Eagles (2-0) take a 27-0 halftime lead against the Knights (1-1) at Windham.

Liam Sullivan rushed nine times for 60 yards and two touchdowns, and Damian Shepad threw for 89 yards, including a 30-yard scoring pass to Colby Waterhouse.

Derek Shute scored a fourth-quarter rushing touchdown for Noble.

MT. BLUE 41, MADISON 28: Chad Luker ran 61 yards for a score on the first offensive play, setting the tone for a 41-point first half as the Cougars (2-0) downed Madison (1-1) at Farmington.

LAWRENCE 42, BANGOR 12: Lawrence (2-0) built a 42-point lead through three quarters and coasted past the Rams (0-2) in an Eastern Class B game at Fairfield.
